With its planning application now before Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Popham Logistics Park is moving at pace to redefine the UK standard for sustainable logistics.

We’re part of a project team that’s approaching the project through a hybrid planning application on behalf of our client, West Farm Popham Limited, which allows us to establish the core principles for the entire site while fast-tracking the detailed designs for the first phase to ensure immediate delivery.

A spokesperson for the project noted:

“Popham Logistics Park will address a clear need for modern logistics capacity along the M3 corridor while creating thousands of jobs, supporting regional supply chains and delivering major investment for Basingstoke and the wider region.”

Popham Logistics Park could create up to 3,000 jobs in the Basingstoke area and beyond. The vision for the park is expansive, bringing forward up to 2.7 million sq ft of employment space alongside a vibrant community heart known as “The Hub” featuring places to meet, work, play sports, and eat, complemented by early years childcare.

Environmental integrity is at the core of the design, with over 100 hectares (more than half the site) dedicated to on-site renewable energy, open space and community provision.

Our transport planning team adopted a vision-led approach. By leveraging the unique scale of Popham Logistics Park, we’ve designed a scenario where sustainable travel isn’t an afterthought, but a core component embedded from day one.

The scale of our proposed buildings directly addresses societal behaviours and the relentless demand for rapid, reliable online shopping and delivery services. By strengthening the underlying logistics infrastructure now, we’re futureproofing the site for the next generation.

Jack Harris, principal transport planner at Rappor, said:

“The proposals at Popham Logistics Park represented a unique opportunity to support the delivery of one of the most significant logistics schemes Rappor has been involved in. Working with such a forward-thinking client and project team has been a standout experience, providing opportunities to collaborate across the board to deliver an exemplary and innovative development.”

As a regionally significant development, Popham Logistics Park can serve as a catalyst for change across the entire sector, proving that high-capacity logistics and environmental responsibility can thrive together.
